FADE IN:

A DARK FEATHER IN PALE GOLD SAND FLUTTERS ERRATICALLY IN THE WIND.
WITH TITLES

1. EXT. BROADBEACH COASTLINE - DAY
We see an overview of the hazy horizon. Waves move into the shore in rhythmic regularity. Tiny SWIMMERS frolic at the edge of the water like ants. HELICOPTER sound builds in the distance.

CUT TO: 2. EXT. SKY - DAY
A HELICOPTER circles overhead against a background of cloudless blue sky.

CUT TO: 3. EXT. RED BRICK HOUSE - DAY
Wind picks up, ruffling the foliage and white curtains in an open window. Innocuous UTILITY VEHICLE is parked in the driveway. HELICOPTER sounds still overhead, loud and grating.

CUT TO: 4. EXT. PINE FOREST - DAY
Wind starts to blow more violently. View of tops of TREES as they shake in fast motion back and forth. Sound of a FLY buzzing very close by over the howling wind. Sound of a BABY begins to cry in the distance. A huge HUNTSMAN SPIDER moves in the wind. Sound of CROWS overhead.

CUT TO: 5. EXT. FOLIAGE - DAY
Close up of purple leaves cradling a dead, pale grey DOVE. Sound of CROWS and buzzing FLY persist.

CUT TO: 6. EXT. PINE FOREST - AFTERNOON
Late afternoon light streams through the TREES, flickering with the shadows of branches.

CUT TO: 7. EXT. FRONT LAWN - SUNSET
Liquid gold quality of light washes over a dead BLACK SWAN. The bird’s neck is twisted at an unusual angle. FLIES swarm the carcass as it lies on an expanse of neatly mowed LAWN.

CUT TO: 8. EXT. SKY - EARLY EVENING
Steel grey THUNDERHEADS gather. The sound of a gathering storm cracks suddenly overhead.

CUT TO: 9. EXT. LAKE INTREPID - EARLY EVENING
A young GIRL floats in the choppy waters of the LAKE. A storm builds.
